SOUTH SHROPSHIRE
This itinerary takes in both historic and modern attractions within the scenic setting of the South Shropshire “Blue Remembered Hills”. The towns covered in this itinerary are Ludlow, Craven Arms and Church Stretton.

*From Ludlow take the A49 towards Shrewsbury. Stokesay Castle is on the left before Craven Arms.
10.00 Stokesay Castle
This 13th century fortified Manor House is the oldest and best preserved in the country. An English Heritage property, Stokesay Castle provides coach parking, toilet and refreshment facilities. An inclusive audio tour is available and a gift shop selling souvenirs is located within the grounds.
*Secret Hills is also on the A49, on the right handside, it is signposted.
11.30 Secret Hills Discovery Centre
The Centre provides an insight into the history, geology and landscape of the Shropshire Hills, by means of exhibitions, guided walks and even a simulated balloon flight. The Centre is surrounded by the Onny Meadows, which offer a number of walking opportunities. There is a gift shop, toilet facilities and a café.

2.45 Cardingmill Valley, Church Stretton
The Longmynd is 5,850 acres of wild moorland, which is intersected with many steep valleys, one of which is Cardingmill Valley and is the ideal location for a gentle walk. The dramatic landscape provides breathtaking scenery, it is no secret why the Victorians dubbed Church Stretton “Little Switzerland”. The National Trust Information Centre located within Cardingmill Valley is ideal for afternoon tea and a browse round the gift shop.
